The work of the United Nations Committee of Experts (UNCOE) on the Transport of Dangerous Goods ultimately becomes the  United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Model Regulations  and the Manual of Tests and Criteria.  These documents serve as the basis for dangerous goods transportation regulations throughout the world.  The USA's hazmat regulations, published in 49 CFR, are very closely based upon these recommendations.

The OCS president participates in the work of this committee as the industry representative of the Institute of Makers of Explosives (IME).
